Your products vanished from Google Shopping this morning, you can’t sign in or a warning is sitting in your account and you can’t tell what it wants. You want a human at Google. Here’s how to contact Google Merchant Center support without wasting a day on the wrong route.
Start in the Help Center[1], where you’ll find “Contact us” and “Post to the help community”. Before you send anything, check the status dashboard for outages[2]. Then pick the route that matches your problem: a review request for policy issues[5], the Business Manager contact form for access and linking[3] or the Shopify app form if you use the Google & YouTube app[4].
Step 1: Check whether Google is the problem
Don’t assume the fault is yours. Don’t assume it’s Google’s either. Open the Merchant Center status dashboard at merchants.google.com/status. It gives real-time updates on outages, with times shown in UTC[2]. If an outage listed there matches what you’re seeing, wait for it to be resolved, then check your products again.
If the dashboard is clear, move on to the notices in your own account.
Tip
UTC is not UK local time in summer. Convert before you decide an outage “started yesterday”.
Step 2: Read the notice and fix what it names
Read the notices in your account before you contact anyone. Open Products and then Needs attention[5]. Note the exact wording of each issue and any product attribute it mentions. Compare it with your feed and with the live product page.
We’ve covered how to fix issues before contacting support at https://oxfordimpulse.com/fix-products-not-showing-google-shopping/ if you want a walkthrough. Fix the data at its source. If your feed is generated from your store, correct the product there. Otherwise the same error may come back the next time the feed updates.
Step 3: Match your problem to the right route
Each type of problem has its own route, so pick the one that fits.
Policy issues and disapprovals: request a review
Policy issues have their own review process inside Merchant Center. Go to Products, then Needs attention, then View setup and policy issues. Choose I fixed the issue or I disagree with the issue, then click Request review[5].
Watch out
If your account is in a cool down period, Google support can’t bypass or shorten it[5]. Asking won’t change that. Use the time to fix the problem properly.
Account access, people, linking and stores
Use the Business Manager contact form[3]. It covers stores, people and access, linking Google apps and linking third-party apps such as Shopify, with an Other option for anything else[3]. It asks for a contact name, company name, contact email and a summary of the problem[3]. Complete requests are resolved faster[3], so give the exact error text and the account ID you’re working in.
Shopify and the Google & YouTube app
If the problem sits in the connection between your store and Merchant Center, use the Shopify app support form[4]. It’s only for the Google & YouTube app. You’ll need the Merchant Center login email and your Shopify account ID. Correct IDs avoid delays[4]. Check them against your Shopify admin before submitting.
Can’t sign in
Google has a dedicated page for sign-in trouble[6]. Note that you can’t change your sign-in email yourself. You have to contact Google[6]. When you do, explain clearly in your summary what you need changed.
Step 4: Send the request and confirm it
Fill in the form and submit it. You may be offered email or chat[3][4]. Calls and chats may be recorded[3][4]. Don’t paste anything into a chat you wouldn’t want stored.
Then open the confirmation email and click the link in it[3][4]. Google follows up only if it needs more information[3][4]. So if you hear nothing, that isn’t necessarily a rejection. It does mean you should watch your inbox, including spam, for a request for details.
What about a phone number or live chat?
You may be hoping for a phone number. No official Google page offers phone support for Merchant Center or lists chat hours. No response time is published either. We won’t give you a number, because any number you find on a random site is unverified and could be a scam. Email or chat may be offered when you use a contact form[3][4].
Treat anyone who contacts you offering to “get your account reinstated” for a fee with suspicion. Use the review process in your account instead[5].
What support can’t do
- Bypass or shorten a cool down period[5].
- Correct your feed or website data for you. Only you can make those changes.
Work through the review process in your account rather than looking for a way around it[5].
Using the help community
The “Post to the help community” option in the Help Center puts your question in front of other members. Answers come from those members[1], so treat them as community experience rather than official guidance. They can be a useful second opinion on unusual feed errors. Check any advice against the Help Center before you change your account.
Checklist before you contact support
Once you’ve sent your request, keep fixing what you can in your feed. If you’d rather have a specialist review your account, see https://oxfordimpulse.com/google-merchant-center/ for how Oxford Impulse can help.
